Mental Strength

My Wife is Strong

Dear Wife,

Some think strength is about how much weight you can lift. Your strength comes from the heaviness of the world around you trying to bring you to your knees, yet you keep standing up. I have seen you withstand so much, so many things meant to hurt you in so many ways, by so many people. Yet, you don’t give up. You’re like a solid redwood growing in the forest. Your branches may sway in the storms, but you stay rooted. I know it isn’t easy. I know there are days when it’s overwhelming. I know there are times you’d like to give up. I know life has been far from fair to you. But you’re still here. Still here for me and the kids to love. Still here facing each day. You’re stronger than you realize. When you feel weak, you’re strong. When you’re tired, you’re strong. When you’re exhausted, you’re strong. It’s okay to have days where you need some time to work through the heavy stuff. It’s okay to break down. It’s okay to feel however you need to feel, as you are the only one who can decide that one. I just want you to know, I’m here. I’m here for the good days, the hard days, the I-want-to-give-up days. I’ll be here to remind you that you are loved, and wanted, and needed. That you aren’t what this world has done to you. You are actually the complete opposite of the things that have been done to you. You’re love, you’re silliness, you’re happiness. You are special, you are important. You are everything to me.
