Some think strength is about how much weight you can lift. Your strength comes from the heaviness of the world around you trying to bring you to your knees, yet you keep standing up. I have seen you withstand so much, so many things meant to hurt you in so many ways, by so many people. Yet, you don’t give up. You’re like a solid redwood growing in the forest. Your branches may sway in the storms, but you stay rooted. I know it isn’t easy. I know there are days when it’s overwhelming. I know there are times you’d like to give up. I know life has been far from fair to you. But you’re still here. Still here for me and the kids to love. Still here facing each day. You’re stronger than you realize. When you feel weak, you’re strong. When you’re tired, you’re strong. When you’re exhausted, you’re strong. It’s okay to have days where you need some time to work through the heavy stuff. It’s okay to break down. It’s okay to feel however you need to feel, as you are the only one who can decide that one. I just want you to know, I’m here. I’m here for the good days, the hard days, the I-want-to-give-up days. I’ll be here to remind you that you are loved, and wanted, and needed. That you aren’t what this world has done to you. You are actually the complete opposite of the things that have been done to you. You’re love, you’re silliness, you’re happiness. You are special, you are important. You are everything to me.
Some days test your strength. Some days test your patience. Some days test your will. Every day you keep going. Every day you keep trying. Every day you push through. Along the way, there have been a lot of bad people doing really bad things. There have been trying situations. There have been rough days. Along the way, you have found the few good people who do exist. You have conquered situations you never thought you could. You have found the good days mixed in with the bad. You should be proud of yourself for all you have made it through. You should be proud of yourself for knowing what you deserve and what you don’t, eliminating the things you don’t. You should be proud of yourself for working at finding your own worth and confidence. Those things that were meant to take you away only ended up helping you to build yourself up. There are those who are truly upset over this. They were never your people. Only those who have always seen your worth and want to see you achieve deserve to be in your life. I am proud that you have learned this. There is only way to go from here and that is up. I’ll always have your back and stand beside you and push away those who try to get in your way. There will be nothing to stop you from achieving your dreams and everything you are. I love you.
