
We often feel guilty about setting boundaries with family, because, well, they’re family. You don’t have to have toxic people in your life. You don’t have to get over what they did to you. You don’t actually have to forgive them, just forgive yourself and be kind to yourself for not knowing what all they were hiding and capable of doing. You deserve to heal and it’s okay if it means cutting ties with the ones who hurt you. It’s not easy. And that’s okay. Take it one step at a time. You’ll get there.
